Why The Comeback Season Summit was Created

I'm your co-host Nichole McLeod. Over the last decade, my life was turned upside down in ways I never expected. At one point, my health took a turn — my energy dropped, my resilience faded, and I didn’t know how to regain momentum or even get grounded enough to keep my head up.

What made it even more humbling is that I had been a fitness coach for 30 years and helped transform thousands of bodies. I understood discipline. I understood strength. So why couldn’t I transform my own mind?

That question changed everything.

I realized that when your nervous system is overwhelmed and stress has been chronic, willpower isn’t enough. You can’t out-discipline a dysregulated body, and you can’t hustle your way back to health. Sustainable momentum begins with feeling safe in your body and rebuilding from the inside out.

That shift transformed how I approached my physical health, my mental health, and the way I rebuild strength without burning out.

A cancer diagnosis has a way of stopping everything. It brings fear to the surface. It makes you look at your body differently. For a long time, I felt frustrated with mine — like it had betrayed me.

But somewhere in the middle of surgeries, recovery, and starting over, something shifted.

I realized this body had carried me through more than I ever gave it credit for. And I am the one responsible for caring for it. Not punishing it. Not fighting it. Supporting it.

I began lifting weights, learning how to fuel myself with intention, strengthening my mindset, and leaning into faith. I stopped obsessing over what I couldn’t control and focused on what I could. That’s when everything began to change.

The Comeback Season Podcast — and now this summit — was born out of very real, very personal seasons of growth. I’m still walking through change. I’m still learning. And I know what it feels like when life looks different than you expected.
